Prototype for Free Care Act Builder
The problem:
Community Catalyst, a local healthcare advocacy organization, was planning a Web-based tool that would allow state legislators to create model Free Care Acts tailored to their particular states. The tool had to be easy to use and navigate, but had to incorporate enough annotation to make complex legal issues and nuances clear.
The solution:
Use the basic structure of the existing Community Catalyst Web pages. Include annotations within the form itself, and then use javascript to move them into an existing sidebar when different sections of the form receive focus. The resulting prototype featured both easy to navigate and accessible.
The prototype served as a model for the developers of the final tool, and allowed the Community Catalyst personnel to quickly and easily show them exactly the functionality they wanted.
